With over 30 years of rich experience in electronics and IT distribution, Mr. Jatan Kumar Baid stands out as a seasoned business leader and visionary strategist in the technology sector. A graduate in Commerce (Hons) from Calcutta University, India, Mr. Baid embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in 1989, beginning with the trading of electronic components.
His early ventures quickly evolved as he entered the computer hardware and peripherals market through Eastern Computell, later rebranded as Comnet Technologies. He was instrumental in bringing globally renowned networking brands such as D-Link and Cisco to Eastern India, positioning his company as a key official distribution partner.

Expansion of Portfolio: Transitioned into retail, wholesale, and distribution of IT hardware, mobile phones, and Apple products, building a robust business ecosystem.
E-Commerce & Service Centers: Pioneered e-commerce initiatives and established service centers and national distribution networks, leading a team of over 50 professionals to manage product launches, sales, and after-sales logistics efficiently.

Mr. Yashwant Baid, a second-generation entrepreneur and the son of Mr. Jatan Kumar Baid, is the Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director of Midnight Sun Group. He is a key force behind the company’s modern growth, technological innovation, and expansion into high- demand global markets.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Hons.) from Calcutta University, Mr. Baid entered the family business in 2008. From his early days in sales, he rose quickly by demonstrating strong market instincts, product development expertise, and leadership capability.
Professional Journey
Mr. Baid began his career managing retail and IT hardware sales, gaining on-ground experience in product cycles, customer behavior, and sales strategies. In 2009, he launched and led the company’s proprietary mobile brand “Mercury”, in collaboration with a Singapore-based firm, sourcing from leading Chinese OEMs like BYD, Malata, and Utime.
He later played a critical role in scaling e-commerce channels, OEM partnerships, and national distribution networks for mobile devices and electronics.
In 2022, recognizing India’s rise as a global electronics hub, Mr. Baid strategically transitioned Midnight Sun into the export of Made-in-India mobile phones and laptops, tapping into a multi-billion-dollar market opportunity driven by global brands like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme manufacturing in India.
